DCS and the Owner Managed Business 100

DCS_OMB_100DCS were proud sponsors of the recent Owner Managed Business 100 (OMB100) report published by North West Business Insider. This eagerly anticipated report identified, and looked in detail at the success of, the North West region’s 100 fastest growing owner managed businesses.

With DCS being an owner managed business ourselves, this was a report we didn’t just sponsor but also took great interest in. The fact that the challenges and successes of those businesses that made the list very often represent shared experiences between them meant we were always keen to engage with the organisations on the OMB100 to push the discussion a bit further.

It was with this in mind that DCS’s Managing Director, Dominic Ball, and Operations Director, Richard Stathers, sat down with a selection of the businesses that made the list at a recent Business Insider round table event. The discussions were varied, interesting and focused on some of the burning issues affecting the operations, growth and ongoing success of these types of business.

OMB100meetIndustries from FMCG through to engineering and construction were represented around the table and the topics covered, while maybe not surprising in themselves, were nonetheless informative, and often surprising, thanks to the real-world experience of the business owners in attendance.

Finance, recruitment, technology, growth strategies and (everyone’s favourite) Brexit were all subjects up for discussion and were clearly areas presenting both opportunities and challenges for today’s owner managed business.

For the full lowdown on the OMB100 report and the views of the individuals and businesses that feature in it, you can access the recently published article focused on the round table event by clicking the link below.

A reality check on Artificial Intelligence from Sage

The concept of artificial intelligence (AI) has been around for a very long time now, pretty much since the dawn of computing, but until very recently it was sat solidly in the realms of science fiction.
