Bulldog Skincare – A British success story targeting growth with SAP Business One

Named as the Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year at the 2014 UK National Business Awards, Bulldog has already come a long way and achieved huge amounts in a relatively short period of time since the idea for the brand was born in 2005 (with products hitting store shelves two years later).

Having developed into one of the UK’s most popular male skincare brands with annual turnover of close to £10 million, by 2015 it had become apparent that a review of their business systems was a priority if this success was going to be continued into the future and replicated in other countries. Factors such as duplication of data entry, difficulty reconciling stock & financials on a monthly basis and a lack of real time reporting were presenting major barriers to efficiency and general business management.

As the team at Bulldog embarked on a review of the software market, the desire for international expansion would become key to their system selection. They needed a modern ERP system designed specifically for the needs of a growing SME which could support full MRP, integration to EDI and that would allow for accounting in multiple localisations worldwide.

Having identified the SAP Business One platform during this process as a solution that could meet these requirements, Bulldog Skincare approached specialists dcs to review the software package in more depth, as well as assess the organisation’s suitability as a SAP partner.

One area of  the Business One solution of huge benefit to Bulldog already has been related to their stock hold where management capabilities have been improved despite greater complexity in the business and sales growth of nearly 30%.  Since implementation stock hold as come down in absolute terms and also in percentage terms from 13.1% of sales to 9.5%.  This stock management has been hugely helped by SAP B1’s MRP module.

In terms of overall efficiency, the automation of the sales order entry process through SAP Business One has enabled Bulldog to keep their supply chain headcount static even during recent periods of growth .
